The York Road Project . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Defeating Homelessness in Woking" . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Objective

The objects of York Road Project are to share the Christian Gospel of God’s love and compassion by providing relief to those in necessitous circumstances in the Borough of Woking and environs regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

We believe that everyone has the right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We believe in showing those who need our help, that the wider community are there to support them and to offer hope for a better future.

The work undertaken by the York Road Project is crucial – in 2010 we helped over 190 people but had to turn away over 700 people through lack of space and resources

What the Charity does

York Road Project provides a variety of support services for the homeless which are accessed through the Hostel and Day Centre at 1 York Road, Woking

For more details please ring: 01483 728739.

Enquires about our services should normally be made between 9.00 am and 7.30 pm Monday to Friday

The Project provides a direct access shelter which can be accessed directly by anyone in need of shelter or by referring agencies. As well as providing a roof over your head, the Project also provides a support service which is available to all of our current and ex residents. This covers accessing appropriate housing, maximising benefits, signposting to other agencies, supporting residents to get back into training, education and work and other services in a safe environment, accessible to all single homeless people.

The Project achieves a 55 percent outcome rate of residents moving on to more permanent accommodation, and provides initial follow up support to ensure that service users are able to manage the basics such as setting up housing benefit (LHA), utility bills, bank accounts and support networks.
