The Indigo Project

The Indigo Project is a new initiative working in partnership with Woking, Waverley and Guildford borough council's and Riverside housing.

York Road Project has worked with hundreds of clients over the years and we know that many struggle to get support for their mental health and this can exacerbate their homelessness situation.  This project offers intensive 1-1 support for clients who are:

  • New to rough sleeping and have mental health difficulties
  • At risk of being evicted from supported housing due to their mental health difficulties
  • At risk of being evicted from other forms of housing (Local Authority, private rented, family home etc.) due to their mental health difficulties.

There are two Indigo teams, one here within our Outreach Team and the other based within HOST, the Outreach team in Guildford (if you are in Guildford, please call 01483 302495).

The Indigo team at YRP work across Woking and Waverley and the two workers - a well-being worker and a mental health practitioner, will provide holistic support to people who meet the criteria of the project.  The client does not need to have a diagnosed mental health condition and it could be panic attacks, anxiety or schizophrenia.  What matters is whether the clients mental health problems are causing problems with their housing situation.  The support offered will include all aspects of someone's life including meaningful use of time, self-worth, confidence and contributing to others.  It may also include assisting with financial matters, physical health and support networks.

We accept referrals from agencies such as landlords, housing providers, local authorities, churches and schools as well as self referrals - we just ask that you have as much information as possible when you call and have the consent of the client.
