Direct Access Night Shelter
Do you need a bed for tonight? Or are you needing accommodation in the near future? If so we may be able to help.
The night shelter has 11 beds in single or double rooms and the Project is open 365 nights a year for clients. If you need to speak to a member of staff either by telephone or in person, please call during the following times:
7am - 4pm and 6pm-10.30pm every day
Sunday - the shelter is open all day.
All those in need are welcome to attend the night shelter during the above opening times if they wish to access support.
Beds are allocated on a first come first served basis but priority will be given to those with a Woking local connection. If you are in need of a bed, please call 01483 728739 - if there are not any current vacancies a member of staff will take your contact details.
If you don't have access to a phone, you can ask some one else (agency or friend) to refer on your behalf or you can come to the shelter daily and speak to a member of the team in person.
Once you have been offered a bed, the staff will complete a short assessment of your needs, show you around the building and explain the house rules to you. Your stay with us will cost you £2 per night and you will have a bed, breakfast and evening meal.
You can stay for up to 21 nights as long as you adhere to the rules. If, after this time you have definite move on options, we may extend your licence pending confirmation. If not, we will try to source alternative emergency accommodation such as No5 night shelter in Guildford.
During your stay at YRP, you will be supported in many areas:
- Referrals to local hostels.
- Reconnecting you to your local borough.
- Benefit advice.
- GP and Dentist registration.
- Referrals to specialist external agencies.
- Anything else you need help with.
'When I first arrived at The York Road Project Night Shelter, I was very depressed and worried. I was made to feel very welcome, the staff were very polite, and there is always someone to talk to. I feel very supported here, mentally and physically. The staff are great, and always on hand to deal with problems.'
