The 'Big Sleep In' Event

York Road Project's 'Sleep In' event starts at 7pm on 23rd October. 

The event will be live on Twitter & Facebook however to take part in the Quiz and 2 key activities you must register. 
Registration is only £5 per adult and under 18's free.  Raffle tickets can also be purchased below, please scroll down. 

(This is a fundraising event so please do what you can to help us, help them as an amazing York Road Project fundraising hero!)

Performances from local singer/songwriter, Abikanile and the siblings Alex and Pheobe from local hit making band 'The Colourblind Monks'. 

Video messages from the Rt hon Mayor of Woking Cllr Beryl Hunwicks and local members of the community. 

Activities include: 

  • Lets Write: An activity inspiring you to write your own song or poem about homelessness / rough-sleeping. 
  • Lets Design: An activity that inspires you to think about things that someone who may be homeless or rough-sleeping may need. Can you design something that might be able to help them? 
  • Lets Talk: An opportunity for you to speak with us, ask questions and share your views.
  • Lets Listen: A unique fundraiser where host of the event Stephen will be presenting a 13 hour radio show on Radio Woking. You can get involved by sending any shout-outs, song requests etc to: [email protected]

The rules... well.. It's really simple: 
We are challenging you to sleep anywhere other than your bedroom in your house*, use a sleeping bag / roll mat AND additionally challenging you to avoid having food (specifically meals) throughout the event other than things like snack bars, crisps etc that someone who may be experiencing homelessness may be relying on. 

Main 'Big Sleep In' Event schedule 23rd October:
This event will be live on Twitter & Youtube available for everyone to view. As a registered guest you will have the opportunity to win during our quiz and will receive the activity sheets so you can take part in the 2 key activities.

10:45pmOver to RadioTime to head over to Radio Woking for our overnight fund-raising take over until 9am tomorrow. Tune in via DAB, Online at RadioWoking.co.uk or via the Radio Woking & Tune In apps. You can also ask your smart speaker to 'Tune in to Radio Woking'. 

Radio Woking's overnight takeover: Our host Stephen will take on the challenge of broadcasting a 13 hour show through the night as an additional fundraiser. You can sponsor Stephen's efforts via Just Giving. You'll be able to tune in via DAB across Surrey, via the Radio Woking / Tune in apps or online at: RadioWoking.co.uk 

Your activity sheets will be e-mailed to you closer to the day of the event.

*We are encouraging you to sleep in any room other than a bedroom within your own house only unless you are in a bubble of someone else's house and it's safe to do so.. Please ensure you keep within the governments social distancing laws/guidelines that are in place for your safety in our nations fight against Covid-19. Stay Alert: Stay at home and get tested if you or anyone you've been in contact with experiences any symptoms of the Covid-19 Corona Virus. Use the government 'Track & Trace' services and remember to wash your hands, follow PPE & social distancing guidelines and Stay Safe!  Event Scheduled times subject to last minute change.
