Private viewing a massive success!

Private viewing a massive success!

Posted on: 8 December 2014 in

On Friday 5th December, York Road project held their annual private viewing ahead of the opening of their art exhibition at The Lightbox gallery.  Each year, a theme is selected and this year the theme was 'Reflections' and four workshops were held during November.  A variety of materials were used including clay and mirrors and all sessions were well attended by clients staying in YRP properties.  The private viewing is the formal opening of the exhibition which will run until the new year and is open for all to see.  This year there was a special treat as the YRP Homeless Choir performed for the guests including Woking Borough Councillors, supporters of YRP and agency representatives from Woking and Guildford.  Superb renditions of 'Amazing Grace' and 'Imagine' were heard along with a very fast '12 days of Christmas'!

Both Art and Music are inclusive and are great methods of building self-esteem and confidence and very popular activities.  We are aiming to run photography workshops next year in addition to the art - again in connection with The Lightbox.

Special thanks to the Arts Council who kindly funded our workshops and exhibition this year.
