Problem solving in the Day Centre

Problem solving in the Day Centre

Being homeless can be a very lonely experience and once you get a bed in the night shelter, many people still feel isolated and afraid.  The Day Centre runs problem solving/team building sessions which actively help break down barriers, build friendships and teach clients how to work together.  At first, many clients are embarrassed about taking part but after a quick ice breaker the laughter is clear to hear.  Some of the most skilled and the most intelligent people walk through our doors and it is a pleasure to see them come out of their shells.  Of course these sessions wont solve all their problems and it may not directly help with finding appropriate accommodation but what it does do, is to build confidence and self esteem.  Here at York Road Project we want all of our clients to feel valued and welcome whilst they stay here.  These sessions can help them feel less lonely, confident that together with help from others, they can overcome some of life's problems.
