YRP Day Centre is Moving!

Posted on: 2 October 2015 in

York Road Project is proud to announce that we have found new premises for our day time activities.  After a long search and with the kind support of Woking Borough Council and Southern Star Property Investments Ltd, we are moving the Day Centre out of the Night Shelter to Goldsworth Road in Woking.  Mojo's was a former nightclub and offers lots of space on three floors.  It will not provide accommodation but will instead allow experienced staff to support even more people who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.

The hours will be extended and the programme will expand, building on the success of all that we presently deliver and will include:

  • Advice
  • First Aid
  • Food Hygiene
  • IT
  • Music
  • Art
  • Choir
  • Creative Writing
  • Employment
  • Gardening
  • External agency workshops
  • And more!

Between April 1st and September 30th 2015 there has been a footfall of 1666 in the Day Centre which averages an attendance of 32 each day.  This demonstrates the need for our services and with more space, we will be able to help even more.  It is anticipated that local people who are not yet homeless but who are struggling with their housing will access for support in order to prevent them from losing their accommodation.

We are hoping to be in the new building at the end of October and will have a Grand Opening in December (all welcome) - watch this space for more information!
