YRP Open Day is a Great Success!

YRP Open Day is a Great Success!

The weather was kind for our Open Day and from 7am the project was a hive of activity with staff and clients preparing for the day.  Tables were moved, floors swept, the buffet prepared, gazebo erected and bunting strung along the railings.

The Mayor of Woking arrived at 10am and welcomed everyone present.  She enjoyed talking to staff and clients and hearing their stories.  It was lovely to meet her, particularly as YRP is gratefully supported by Woking Borough Council - Thank you Madam Mayor!

YRP's very own choir - 'Off the Record' performed and this was clearly the most popular part of the day.  The room was full to capacity with some people having to stand outside.  As ever, they were excellent despite some of the shelter clients having only practiced with the others once or twice.

Thanks to lots of kind donations from the 'Tiger' store in Woking, clients and staff ran a tombola and an amazing £200 was raised for client welfare.  Big thanks to Alice for encouraging members of the public passing by to purchase a ticket or two!

It was a wonderful day and a great chance to show the local community what actually goes on here at YRP.  Lots of people have walked past many times without knowing what we did and they enjoyed meeting the clients and staff team.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped on the day - particularly those clients who very patiently gave guided tours of the building!
