YRP wins Kebur Community Challenge!

The clients and staff at York Road Project are thrilled to have won £2000 from Kebur garden supplies in their Community Challenge 2015.  The competition was run in conjunction with Eagle Radio with the results announced live on the radio.  The clients here at YRP are creating a community garden at United Reform Church (URC) on White Rose lane in Woking and it will be for all in the community to enjoy.  We were grateful that Woking Association of Voluntary service for informing us about the competition.  Find out more about WAVS here http://wavsonline.co.uk/

Gardening is an excellent activity for promoting both health and emotional well-being and this opportunity offers the clients the chance to design, create and maintain a new garden from scratch.  Early thoughts include a sensory garden or one for all seasons which everyone will be able to enjoy.  Our clients are keen on being engaged in the local community as often they feel excluded and marginalised.  Helping others helps them to feel good about themselves.

Watch this space as photos of progress will be posted regularly and special thanks once again to Kebur - to find out more see http://www.kebur.co.uk/
