Do you recall our #GrowMeBeHappy campaign from a few months back?
We thought we'd remind you of that campaign as we head into the weekend of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.
The impact of #GrowMeBeHappy:
#GrowMeBeHappy is an initiative from York Road Project encouraging its staff, volunteers, clients and local community to take a moment out, grow their own house plant such as Sunflower and look at various activities and mindfulness steps that will promote a better mental health and well-being.
The theory:
The act of caring and nurturing plants is well known to have a positive effect on people. There has been significant research done that suggests a person’s health during an illness is improved quicker simply because indoor plants remove toxins from the air, renew the oxygen in a room and positively impact mental health and well-being. Check out more information here...
In addition to growing your own house plant (Sunflower), our workbook has some useful mental health and well-being hints and tips alongside providing things like colouring pencils, art kits and of course water to keep the body and mind hydrated.
You can download the activity / info booklet here
If you have planted anything this Spring, show off your photos using #GrowMeBeHappy on social media and remember, the only way we eradicate the stigma attached to mental health is if we keep talking!
