About Us

For the last 20 years 'York Road Project' has worked tirelessly supporting local people who have experienced homelessness or rough-sleeping in the borough of Woking and surrounding areas.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Our ultimate aim is to support anyone experiencing homelessness into permanent accommodation and those forced to rough sleep. We do, however, recognise that not everyone we work with is ready to live independently therefore, we support them with anything creating potentially creating barriers to accessing stable accommodation.

We have a long history of supporting people experiencing homelessness in Woking. Starting as a soup kitchen and winter shelter run by volunteers from churches in the local area before officially becoming a charity to focus on guiding people through the challenging times they may be experiencing onto long-term, suitable accommodation.

"Our mission is to share the Christian gospel of God's love and compassion to those in need in the Borough of Woking and surrounding areas regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion, belief and sexual orientation. We believe that everyone has a right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We also believe in showing those who need support that the wider community is there to help and to offer hope for a better future".
